Rutland - Phillis A. (Weagle) Herrera, aged 90, passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Worcester, she was the fourth of eight children of the late Clarence and Helen (Fields) Weagle.
Phillis graduated from the former David Hale Fanning High School in Worcester and proudly served in the United States Army. Her dedication to serving others led her to pursue a career in nursing, where she served patients at the former Rutland Heights Hospital for over two decades. During her military service, she encountered her true love, Francisco A. Herrera. The couple married and made Rutland their home, where they nurtured their children and cherished 62 years of marriage until Francisco's passing in 2017. Phillis found solace and strength in her faith as a devout member of St. Patrick's Church in Rutland.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Francisco, in 2017, Phillis leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her sons, Francisco "Butch" Herrera and his wife, Kate, of Clarendon, VT, and Rolando A. Herrera and his wife, Theresa, of Erie, PA; her daughter, Ramona Gordon and her husband, John, of Rutland; her grandchildren, Michelle Demers, Renee Letendre, Jessica Herrera, Abigail Herrera, David Herrera, and Joshua Herrera; and her great-grandchildren, Mia, Morgan, Dylan, and Ellie.
