Philip Morey

STERLING – Philip Morey, 89, of 119 Redemption Road Trail, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in his daughter’s home in Princeton after a brief illness.

His wife of 63 years, Marie L. (Thibeault) Morey, died in 2002. He leaves two sons, Brian J. Morey of Jefferson and Dana P. Morey of Charlton; a daughter, Sandra A. Lord of Princeton; a sister, Rebecca Martens of Watertown; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was born in Whitinsville and lived 54 years in Sterling.

Mr. Morey retired in 1978 as a Foreman from Crompton and Knowles Foundry in Worcester. He was a founding member of the 8 Points Sportsmans Club and founding Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 8 both in Sterling. He was also a board member of the Sterling D.P.W. and the Sterling Housing Authority. He was a former member of the Sterling Grange and Chocksett Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, horseshoes and was an avid fly tyer.

A Memorial Mass for Mr. Morey will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, in the Prince of Peace Church, 1 Worcester Road (Rte. 31), Princeton. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, is directing arrangements.
