Philip Max Katz

October 9, 1949 — October 15, 2018

WORCESTER – Philip Max Katz, age 69, died on Monday morning, October 15, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He fought with unspeakable bravery and dignity. His memory will live on through his family and friends.

Philip was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Miriam (Bergman) Katz. Philip leaves two sons, Joshua Katz and his wife, Katherine of Washington, DC and Jacob Katz of Worcester; a daughter, Sarah Katz and her fiancé, Kevin Feyjoo of Worcester; his twin sister, Sharon Freeman; a brother, Jack Katz; and two granddaughters, Olivia and Ella Katz. We are humbled and honored for the time we got to spend with him.

He was born in Worcester and was the son of Samuel and Irene (Aronovsky) Katz and was a lifelong Worcester resident. Philip was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School and Bentley College. He owned and operated City Builders Supply Co. in Worcester and he was the last of three generations to own and operate the family business. Philip was also a loyal Boston sports fan throughout the entirety of his life.

Philip was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. His admirable positive outlook on life and his unwavering kindness and devotion toward his loved ones will always be revered and remembered.

GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, AT B’NAI BRITH CEMETERY ON ST. JOHN’S ROAD, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.

Memorial Observance will be held at the residence of Moe and Wendy Bergman at 11 Kensington Heights, Worcester through Wednesday evening October 17, from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM and on Thursday, October 18, and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday evening, October 20. Minyan services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday evening at the residence.
