PAXTON – Philip J. Jordan passed away peacefully in the loving care of his soulmate and life-partner, William “Billy” M. Clinton on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Born and raised in Worcester, Phil was the son of George and Eva (Nassif) Jordan and lived the last 12 years in Paxton.
Phil was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester, class of 1961. He later attended a school for cosmetology and hairdressing and Clark University. At the age of 18, Phil went to work at R.H. White Dept. Store at Lincoln Plaza where he became the leading hairstylist before opening his own beauty salon on Lincoln Street known as Mr. Philips. Shortly after opening a second shop at Seven Hills Plaza, Phil sold both locations and opened P.J.'s Hair-Tech on Richmond Avenue which he owned and operated for over 50 years.
While running the beauty salon, Phil followed another one of his many passions…selling real estate. He received his license as a real estate agent and broker and worked the following 35 years part-time for Walsh and Associates Real Estate in Worcester.
Phil was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and attended The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul with Billy. He was also a member of the Worcester Art Museum and the Realtor Association of Central Massachusetts. One of Phil’s many talents was expressing himself artistically. He attended numerous courses at the Worcester Art Museum and particularly enjoyed creating still lifes while working with watercolors and oils. One of Phil’s favorite past-times was writing. He wrote extensively about his experiences as a hairdresser which he considered central to his life.
He was truly an extrovert and embraced the company of others. Selfless by nature, Phil extended his heart to everyone he met and never expected anything in return. He will be lovingly missed and remembered fondly by his many friends, colleagues and loyal customers.
Besides his life-partner of 39 years, William M. Clinton, he is survived by a brother, Kenneth Jordan of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Linda LaPensee of Auburn; two dear friends, Jane Molina of Boylston and Janice Corazzini of Worcester; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, January 8, at The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul, 38 High Street, Worcester. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester.
