Murrells Inlet, SC - Peter E. Chila, 81, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was born in Greenwich, CT, the son of the late Anthony C. and Clare (Calvert) Chila and had lived in CT, Sterling, Lancaster, and other North Central Mass towns before moving to South Carolina 6 years ago.
Peter grew up in Stamford, Connecticut and graduated from Stamford High School. He had 3 careers. He was a butcher in the ’70s, a salesman for Rand Typography in the 80’s, then worked in landscaping, retiring in S. Carolina. He enjoyed golf (a lot), the Yankees (Mickey Mantle), and loved to follow his kids and grandkids' sports and other hobbies.
He will be remembered for being a great, supportive dad and grandfather. Loving Husband. Always willing to help out someone in need. Oldest of 8, a great big brother. An excellent youth football coach and avid golfer.
Peter married the love of his life, the late Marie Ann (Rock) in 1979. The couple lived in N. Central Mass and Murrells Inlet, SC.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marie Ann (Rock) Chila in February 2021. He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his son, Anthony Chila of Lunenburg; his daughter, Tracy Stickles and her husband, James of Florida; his daughter, Debra Boudreau of Murrells Inlet, SC, and his sons Glenn and Mark Schuffels of Leominster, MA and Portland, ME; his brothers, Anthony Chila, Philip Chila and Michael Chila; his sisters, Josephine Grammont, Justine Robichaud and Marian Lemanski; his grandchildren, Matthew, Jesse, Kelsie and Ali Stickles and Corey, Kristen and Anna Chila, Laura and Andrew Hansen, and Sydney Boudreau and many nieces and nephews. Peter was also predeceased by his brother, J. Paul Chila.
