Perham 'Bud' Parker

February 16, 1923 — November 17, 2016

SEBRING, FL / HOLDEN, MA - Perham "Bud" Parker, 93, formerly of Holden passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Oaks at Avon Park in Florida. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, and raised in Worcester, Bud was the son of George and Eunice (Sumner) Parker and lived 58 years in Holden before moving to Sebring in 2011.
Bud was educated in Worcester and worked at Wright Line Corp in Worcester and simultaneously as an EMT for Himmer Ambulance Co. He honorably served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. He was a surgical technician in the Combat Medical Corps under the command of General George Patton and served in the European African and Middle Eastern Theaters including Normandy.
He was a Past Master of Mt. Zion Lodge of Masons in Barre and an affiliate of Hope Lodge in Gardner. Bud was easy going, enjoyed spending time with many friends at the Holden Senior Center. He loved animals, particularly his dog and best friend, “Webster.” He was a passionate Red Sox fan and never missed watching a game on the baseball channel.
His wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Blake) Parker died in 1997. Bud is survived by two sons, John H. Parker of Fredericksburg, VA and Kenneth O. Parker and his wife, Louise of Sebring with whom he lived; a granddaughter, Alyssa Caitlin Parker of Arlington, VA and her fiancé, Robert Bradley; a brother, Richard Parker of Centerville; several nephews and nieces. Besides his wife, Bud is predeceased by a brother, George Parker, Jr. of Princeton.
A funeral service honoring Bud’s life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 26, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Memorial contributions may be made to Holden Senior Center, 1130 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
