RUTLAND – Margaret “Peggy” J. (Meek) Olds, 56, of Campbell Street, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 in Tewksbury Hospital after a long struggle with Huntington’s disease.
She leaves her husband of 33 years, Thomas R. Olds; a son, James R. Olds of South Grafton; a daughter, Elizabeth J. Olds of North Attleboro; two sisters, Patricia McDougall of Coventry, Connecticut and Mary Elizabeth Meek of Brick, New Jersey; several nephews and nieces. A brother, Robert Meek predeceased her. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey the daughter of James and Rosemary (Smith) Meek, and lived 31 years in Rutland.
Peggy graduated from Anna Maria College in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and later earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Counseling. She taught special education at Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District before retiring due to illness in 1997. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, she enjoyed teaching and loved knitting. The family would like to thank the staff of Tewksbury Hospital for their support and care of Peggy.
Funeral services for Mrs. Olds will be held on Wednesday, July 18th, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17th, in the funeral home.
