HOLDEN – Roger "Peewee" E. Berry, 79, of Jackson Street, Jefferson, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 19, 2011. He was born in Holden, one of 12 children to Harold J. and Viola R. (Sheard) Berry, Sr.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Evelyn L. (Spicer) Berry; four sons, Mark E. Berry and Timothy C. Berry, both of Jefferson, Ricky W. Berry of Marquette, MI, and Anthony P. Berry and his wife Donna of Gaza, KY; a daughter, Sharron M. Lammi of Jefferson; five brothers, Harold J. Berry, Jr. of Webster, Gerald R. Berry of Rutland, Edward J. Berry of Leicester, David A. Berry of Centerville and Charles A. Berry of Asheboro, NC; two sisters, Gladys R. Chilleri of Holden and Dorothy A. Munhall of Uxbridge; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Richard, Donald, Benjamin and Dennis Berry, predeceased him.
Roger was a graduate of Holden High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he was a paratrooper discharging as a sergeant. For 25 years he was a truck driver at Schuster Co. in Billerica and Framingham, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson, the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston, Holden Hills Country Club and the Mass. Horseshoe Organization.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 23rd, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton.
