JEFFERSON - Paula McGinn Geene passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on November 9th, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Paula's greatest comfort was her faith in Jesus Christ. She cherished her large family deeply and took immense pride in each of them. Blessed with four children and nine grandchildren—many of whom live just down the street—Paula’s love and warmth extended to everyone around her, touching the lives of both her family and neighbors.
Paula was 73 years old. She lived in Holden for nearly 64 years. In town, she was affectionately known as “The Beagle Lady,” a title earned by her daily six-mile walks with four beagles. She often paused to chat with neighbors along the way. Nothing could stop her from these walks—she braved rain, snow, ice, and lightning. Paula had a special love for her many beagles, with the Snoopy character serving as a charming reminder of them. She also took great joy in watching and feeding the birds that visited her backyard.
Paula graduated with the Class of 1969 from Wachusett Regional High School and then later from Becker College. She started work as a legal secretary at McCabe, Morocco, and Bennett. She then devoted many years at home raising her four children. Much later, Paula enjoyed working in administration at Sunnyside Motors on Main Street in Holden, MA.
Paula leaves her husband, David L. Geene, her sisters Carey McGinn and Lisa McGinn Goodwin. She is also survived by her children Sara Tindall and her husband Stephen, Kate O’Connor and her husband John, Grace Blanchette and her husband John, and David S. Geene and his wife Elizabeth, as well as her grandchildren: Nathan, Micah, Noah, Ben; Mackenzie, Emma; Andrew, William, and Ella. We all loved her, and we will miss her. As Christians, she and we have our faith and hope in Christ’s righteousness, not our own. We confidently look forward to eternal peace and rest in Christ.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Paula’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 14th, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A memorial worship service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, November 15th, at Heritage Bible Chapel, 182 Brooks Station Rd., Princeton, MA. A reception will follow in the fellowship room of the church.
