Paul E. Mccarthy

March 30, 1960 — July 26, 2012

HOLDEN – Paul E. McCarthy, 52, of Salisbury St., died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 26, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 30, 1960, Paul was raised in Marlborough and later lived 17 years in Holden.

Paul was a graduate of Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School and worked the last 8 years at Home Depot in Worcester where he was a department supervisor. Previously, he worked 15 years at D & S Setting Tools in Stow. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Pine Ridge and the Wednesday golf league in Stow. As an outdoorsman, he looked forward to the New England seasons which provided him with the opportunity to hunt and fish.

He was a devout Christian and looked forward to attending Holden Chapel where he felt at home with Christ and his many dear friends. He was known for his dry sense of humor and creative sarcasm and will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother.

He is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife of 12 years, Deborah J. (Comeau) McCarthy; his mother, Judith A. (Belmore) McCarthy of Marlborough, his father, Paul F. McCarthy of Dennis; two step-sons, Christopher A. Ferguson and his fiancée Rachel Barret of Holden and Joshua S. Ferguson of Worcester; a brother, Tre McCarthy of Beverly; two grandchildren, Camren and Riley; his godfather, Richard McCarthy of Hudson; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and many cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Alice (Statkus) Belmore, paternal grandparents, Florence and Mary (Kerrigan) McCarthy and his godmother, Pauline Conway.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 30, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In celebration of Paul’s life, a memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at the Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir St. (Rte. 31), Holden. A committal service will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, at the convenience of the family.
