PINELLAS PARK, FL / STERLING - Paul D. Foote, Sr., 85, a former longtime Sterling resident, died peacefully on January 23, 2017 at Healthcare South Rehabilitation Hospital, Largo, FL. He was born in Fitchburg, a son of the late John A. and Helen (Bouley) Foote. Paul was raised in Sterling and lived there for more than 60 years. He proudly served in the Massachusetts National Guard for three years. Paul retired from Norton Company, Worcester where he was a temperature control man. He also worked as a bus driver in Sterling and West Boylston. While in Sterling, Paul was an active member of the Hiram Taylor American Legion Post in Sterling and the Auburn Webster Lodge of Elks. Paul served his community as a longtime on call member of the Sterling Fire Department, where he was one of the founding member of the Sterling Fire and Ambulance Association, the fund raising arm for the department in the early years of the ambulance program. During the early retirement years, Paul and Doris were avid campers. With their mobile home, they had visited all 48 states as well as provinces in Canada and even places in Mexico. Never one to sit still, once Paul and his wife, Doris settled in Florida he went to work as a greeter at the local Walmart. He enjoyed the interaction with the customers, especially the little children. Paul will be lovingly missed by his cherished wife of more than 60 years, Doris E. (Milton) Foote; his three devoted children, P. David Foote of Florida, Cynthia Camosse and her husband, Michael of Oxford and Sandra Foote Wirs and her husband, Kenneth Wirs, Sr. of Florida. He will also be forever remembered as a wonderful grandfather of eight as well as 11 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Paul’s family on Saturday, February 4 from 10-11 a.m. at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A funeral service celebrating his life will then be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling.
