GARDNER - Paul E. Johnson, 80, a life-long resident of Gardner, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in the Holden Nursing Home.
His wife, Fern (Cross) Johnson died in 2004. He leaves two grandsons, Scott P. McFaul of Warren and William C. McFaul of Ware; a granddaughter, Jennifer M. Leman of Brimfield; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Linda Dick, of Gardner. A daughter, Susan E. Dorman, and three brothers, Carl, Donald and Ewald Johnson, predeceased him. He was born in Gardner, son of Ewald A. and Edith V. (Nelson) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a chair maker and woodworker for Bent Brothers, retiring in 1990. He was an on call firefighter in Gardner for 30 years, retiring as a Captain. He enjoyed bowling and woodworking.
A graveside service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at Wildwood Cemetery, West Street, Gardner. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gardner Firefighters Benefit Association, 70 City Hall Avenue, Gardner, MA 01440. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
