Biography
HOLDEN – Patrick C. Coates, 44, of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Lake Avenue in Worcester.

He leaves his wife and best friend, Tricia Leigh McCarthy of Jefferson; four daughters, Molly McCarthy of Boylston, Emma, Erin and Sadie Coates of Jefferson; three sons, Christopher Coates of Boston, Andrew Coates of Montana, and Zachary Coates of Jefferson; his parents, Daniel R. and Christine A. (Lamica) Coates of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, Matthew Coates and his wife, Anjie of Oakham; two sisters, Amanda Mann of Rutland, and Rebecca Coates of Clinton; and many nephews and nieces.

Patrick graduated from Quabbin Regional High School in Barre and Worcester State University. He loved playing baseball and was a pitcher on both his high school varsity team as well as his college team. He also pitched for the Hubbardston Rod and Gun Club softball team where he was a member for 20 years. He was a heavy equipment operator for Clark & Mott Construction Co. in Boylston where he worked for ten years. Patrick was an easy going soul with a contagious sense of humor. He will be remembered as a great husband, father and provider for his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Patrick’s family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 20, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Road, Jefferson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leominster Credit Union, 715 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
