Patricia Anne Young, 70, of Milford passed away on July 4, 2022, after a brief illness. Born in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late Elwyn and Nora (Haffty) Young. Patricia leaves two sisters, Carolyn Y. Haddad of Worcester and Chula Vista, CA; and Tenley C. Young of Mansfield; two brothers, Norman J. Young and his wife, Darlene of Cumberland, RI, and Steven G. Young of Westport Port; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A sister, Kathleen M. Carelli predeceased her.
Patricia graduated from North High School and received her Bachelor of Arts in Art431 from Clark University. A life-long learner, Patricia completed many religious, Master Artists Series, and Children's Book Illustration courses at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, MA, Providence College, and Rhode Island School of Design in Providence
Patricia was a certified Home Health Aid holding certifications in: Home Health, Infant Toddler-OCCS, from Commonwealth of MASS, CPR from the American Academy of Pediatrics, and First Aid by the National Safety Council-First Aid Institute.
Earlier in her career, she held positions as a Nanny, Care Giver and Overseer, Private Live-in Homecare, Home Health Aide, Easter Seals Special Care Services, and Field Supervisor.
For the past 20 years Patricia resided in Milford, MA. An Author and Illustrator, she published her Orthodox religious book: "The Holy Monks of Mount Athos." This book illustrated a theological perspective to children's reading, visually expressing the spirituality of how the Holy Monks live in prayer and love of God.
Patricia volunteered in her community. She served food at the Milford Senior Center. She created and designed a Sunday School program of religious themes and icons for the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Boston. She assisted serving food, and visited with patients and families on holidays at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton.
She was a Teaching Assistant working with Special needs individuals at Quimbey School in Worcester.
Most recently Patricia [known as Miss Patty] created a Chess Club with fellow Senior Master Chess Player, Phil at the Milford Library for the children of Milford. They taught many aspects of chess and Miss Patty's program grew from 20 to 50 students.
Patricia loved her faith, drawing Orthodox religious icons, and listening to religious chanting music. She loved mentoring and teaching children art, chess, Latin and helping them understand about taking the right path of life.
The family wishes to acknowledge with love and affection the support of Patricia's dear friends, Gail, Mary and James, Erica and her family, Elaine and her mom. We thank the Director, Sue and her team at the Milford Senior Center for their kindness to Patricia.
Patricia's funeral was held in St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
Patricia will continue to be remembered by family and friends.
