HOLDEN – Patricia W. (Walling) Sculthorpe, 81, passed away peacefully at on December 31, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. Born and raised in Red Bank, NJ, Pat was the daughter of John R. and Ella Mae (Shaffer) Walling and lived in Michigan and Tennessee before moving to Holden in 1978.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 60 years, Alfred “Al” E. Sculthorpe, Jr; two sons, Gregg Sculthorpe and his wife, Donna of Holden and Glenn Sculthorpe and his wife, Holly of St. Marys Georgia; a daughter, Linda G. Wallace and her husband, John of Holden; a brother, Fred Lake and his wife, Janice of Lunenburg; a sister, Cherie Gallagher of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Zachary and Shea Sculthorpe of St. Marys, Georgia. Besides her parents, Pat is predeceased by a beloved grandson, Brian Sculthorpe.
Pat and Al met in New Jersey in 1958 while he was serving in the Navy. They were married in 1961 in New Jersey and resided there until Al graduated from Rutgers University. After graduation, they moved to Michigan and Tennessee, where Pat worked as a secretary while they raised their 3 children.
Pat graduated from Freehold High School in New Jersey and worked as a medical secretary at UMass Medical Center in Worcester until her retirement in 2005. She enjoyed candlepin bowling, watching game shows, rooting for the Boston Red Sox and working on counted cross stitch projects which she made for all her relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Pat’s family from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, January 8th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Camden Miracle League, PO Box 37, Kingsland, GA 31548, or a charity of one’s choice.
