Patricia A. Crow

June 6, 1937 — January 5, 2023

Rutland – Patricia A. (Strong) Crow, 85, died peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, Worcester. She was born in Holden, the daughter of Clarence and Eunice (Handy) Strong and had lived in Rutland for 44 years.

Patricia was raised in Rutland and graduated from Rutland High School. She married the love of her life, the late Howard E. Crow in 1958, while Howard was serving in the United States Air Force. They moved to several different states before settling in Rutland in 1978.

Patricia devoted her life to her faith, family and to helping others. For many years she took part in worship at the Church of Christ of Worcester and Leominster where she left many dear friends. While living in Texas Patricia served as “House Mother” to the children of the Medina Children’s Home in Medina, TX. For many years she volunteered and advocated for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Through this work Patricia made a positive impact on the lives of many people suffering from mental illness. She will be remembered for her genuinely kind and giving spirit by all.

Patricia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Howard E. Crow, Sr. in 2011 and her son, William S. Crow in 2014. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son, Howard E. Crow, Jr. of Rutland; her daughter, Linda Peterson of Fayetteville, NC; her brother, Joseph Strong of Spencer; her sisters, Betty Bell of NH, Irene Daddario of NY, Donna Wands of FLA and Barbara Jones of IA; her grandson, Timothy Peterson and his wife, Carrie; her great-grandchildren, Christian, Linda and William Peterson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Patricia was also predeceased by her brothers, Clarence Strong, Jr., David Strong, Gary Strong and Robert Strong; and her sisters, Gloria Strong, Nancy Burleigh, Doris Strong and Deborah Strong.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to NAMI, P.O. Box 49104, Baltimore, MD 21297.
