HUBBARDSTON/CLINTON - Patricia Ann (Massart) Nason, 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at UMass Memorial Health Alliance - Leominster Campus on Saturday, May 13, 2023, after a declining period of health. Born in Woonsocket, RI and raised in Blackstone, MA, Pat was the daughter of Irving F. and Mabel E. (Ray) Massart. She graduated from Blackstone High School in 1953.
After graduating high school, Pat met and fell in love with a young serviceman John Nason, who had recently returned from overseas. They married on September 12, 1954, at a small gathering in Putney, Vermont. They lived briefly in Woonsocket before moving to Clinton, MA where they raised their six children.
Most of Pat's life was spent at home caring for her family. She was an exceptional mother. Her children were her life. She was passionate about teaching them to follow their own path and chase their dreams. She was a virtuous woman who found great solace in her faith in God. Pat NEVER wavered from her trust and love for the Lord! She shared her love of Jesus with everyone she met. Pat prepared her whole life for the joyous time when God would call her home. Pat was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Clinton where she served for many years as a deacon, prayer warrior, visitor to shut-ins, and Sunday school teacher.
Pat loved knitting and crocheting items for her children and extended family. She also enjoyed baking and was famous for her delicious apple pies and sticky buns. She volunteered in Clinton's soup kitchen and played cribbage at Turner Hall. After moving to Hubbardston, Pat often attended the Hubbardston Senior Center where she made many new friends, making puzzles and playing pitch and cribbage. A voracious reader, Pat enjoyed sharing her thoughts on the latest offering at their book club.
Pat will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 68 years, John A. Nason, Jr.; three sons, John A. Nason III and his wife Anne M. (Wrobel) Banville of Warren, James M. Nason and his wife, Lissette Diaz-Nason of Hubbardston, and Matthew T. Nason of Northborough; three daughters, Patricia A. Ross and her husband, Donald of Farmville, VA, Kathleen L. Johnson and her life-partner, Christopher Fellows of Winchendon, and Karen M. Whittier and her life-partner, Wayne Walker of Princeton; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Pat is predeceased by a brother, Irving F. Massart and a sister, Sarah "Sally" St. Amant.
