Olive Gunhild ''Gunnnie'' (Berglund) Wall

HOLDEN – Olive Gunhild “Gunnie” (Berglund) Wall, 94, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at UMass Memorial Healthcare - Memorial Campus after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Arvid Gunnar and Ida (Sjodahl) Berglund and had lived in Holden for most of her life.
Her loving husband of 50 years, Paul Helge Wall, passed away in 1991. She leaves two sons, P. Richard Wall of Holden and Robert M. Wall of Boston; a nephew, five nieces and several cousins in Sweden. She was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Marilyn Wall in 1946; a brother, Gunnar R. Berglund in 1997 and two sisters, Violet Steere Werme in 2002 and Edna Johnston in 2012.
Gunnie attend Holden High School and graduated from Commerce High School in 1938 and later graduated from Felt Tarrant Comptometer School in Worcester. She worked for Astra Pharmaceutical in Worcester for twenty-one years before retiring in 1982. After retiring, Gunnie became an election worker for the Town of Holden. She was a charter member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and belonged to the Women’s Circle and Senior Koinonia. She was a charter member of the Chaffin Women’s Club and was a member of the Holden Senior Center and the Nordic Lodge.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Gunnie will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520. A private committal service will be held at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 3595, Boston, MA 02241-3595.
