STERLING — Norman P. Stotz, 86, beloved husband of Virginia (Newell) Stotz, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family, on Monday, February 7, 2022. Born and raised in Montague (Turners Falls), he was a son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Whitney) Stotz.
Norman was a graduate of Northfield Mount Herman Preparatory School in Gill, MA. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and proudly served his country. Upon his return, he went on to further his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he received his bachelor's degree. Norman enjoyed a long career at Norton Company, retiring as an Engineering Manager after 32 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Norm enjoyed playing tennis with his friends at the YMCA and fishing on the waters of Lake George and Cape Cod. Those who knew Norman best will remember his fondness for his many feline friends.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 36 years, Virginia; two daughters,
Lori Gross of Princeton and Sue Swenson of Eastham; his stepson, Michael Donnelly and his wife, Elizabeth of Valejo, CA; a sister, Carolyn R. McLellan and her husband, Tom of Greenfield; his grandchildren, Nick Swenson, Melissa Pepper, Sarah Payne and Jessica Gross; his great-grandchildren, Damian and Samantha Pepper; his step-great-grandchildren, Michael and David Donnelly; his daughter-in-law, Natalee Stotz; and his faithful feline companions, Gracie and Clancy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, John Stotz in 2017.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
