Norman Steinberg

d. January 8, 2021

Norman Steinberg, 86, of Boynton Beach, FL, Centerville, MA, and formerly of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19. Norman was born in Worcester, MA in 1934 to the late Hyman and Mollie (Rovner) Steinberg. After graduating from Clark University, he worked for Merck Pharmaceuticals, Tracer Lab, and Polaroid. Norman found his real passion working in the investment business for over 50 years. He started with Sterman & Gowell and worked for Clarke Dodge and Moseley Securities before setting up the Boston-based operations for Credit Lyonnaise. Norman then went on to co-found Steinberg Global Asset Management with his son, Richard. After many fulfilling years and following the merger of Steinberg Global with The Colony Group in 2019, Norman retired at the young age of 85.

But far more important than his professional accomplishments, Norman was the consummate family man, always finding time to spend with his children, and later in life, his grandchildren. Norman was the loving husband of Tonyia (Goodman) Steinberg and the adoring father of three children: the late Mindy Steinberg, Susan Ivancic and her husband Robert of Framingham, MA; Richard Steinberg and his wife Naomi of Boca Raton, FL; his four grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Alana and Jack; and, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Vivian (Steinberg) Sigel and her husband Morton and his brother Morton Steinberg and his wife Edith. Norman was a devoted friend and mentor to many throughout his life. Outside of his professional life, Norman will always be remembered for his warmth, compassion, and wit as well as his love of Judaism and for the state of Israel—all of which he shared generously.

Services will be private respecting the current Covid-19 restrictions. For those who wish, Norman may be remembered through a donation to Temple Beth Am in Framingham, MA designated for the Mindy J. Steinberg Memorial Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
