HOLDEN – Norman G. “Guy” Orrell, Jr., 63, of Jefferson, formerly of Millbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018 with his loving wife and family by his side at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Guy was born in Worcester on October 3, 1955 and lived his formative years in Millbury. He was a graduate of Millbury Memorial High School, class of 1974.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, Huong Lieu Orrell; his five daughters, Leah Motsis and her husband, Christopher of West Boylston and Rebekah Orrell of Jefferson and their mother, Barbara (Siegel) Orrell Smith of Jefferson, Keasha Kim, Vannie Kim, and Emily Lieu all of Worcester; his mother Phyllis (Moore) Orrell Palmer of Watertown , Ct; a brother, Roy Orrell and his wife, Darlene of Millbury; a sister, Day Palmer and her husband Craig of Watertown, Ct; 6 Grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Guy is predeceased by his father, Norman G. Orrell, Sr.
After graduating High School, Guy went to work for the Town of Millbury as their Tree Warden. In 1982, Guy put his mechanical abilities to work and accepted a position as a machinist mechanic at Woodbury and Company in Worcester where he worked until their closing in 2002. He then worked 16 years at Lutco, formerly known as Lundquist Tool and Die Co., in Worcester retiring due to illness in 2015.
Guy enjoyed riding his motorcycle but his true passion was music. He could play multiple instruments including the base guitar, saxophone and mandolin. Starting in the late ‘70’s and through the years, Guy played in numerous local rock bands most recently playing in coffee houses with his brother Roy in their band,
“Or-Else.” He will be remembered for his deep and abiding faith in God, his love of Family & Friends, his love of Nature and Adventure and his amazing creativity.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Guy’s family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 9, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross and Be The Match: The National Marrow Donor Program.
