Norma R. (Applegate) Hutnak

HOLDEN – Norma R. (Applegate) Hutnak, 92, of Jefferson, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Knollwood Nursing Center after an illness. She was born in Northbridge, the daughter of Benjamin and Ethel (Young) Applegate, and had lived in Jefferson for over 50 years.Her husband of 61 years, Stephen Hutnak, passed away in 2007. She leaves her son, Stephen A. Hutnak of Whitefish, Montana; her daughter, Betty A. Sandstrom of Princeton; four sisters, Virginia Jahn of England, Marjorie Cnossen of Douglas, Barbara Helstrom of Northbridge and Ethel Bouley of Florida; and a grandson, Kurt Sandstrom of Fitchburg.Mrs. Hutnak worked at State Mutual Life in Worcester for eighteen years before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Salem Covenant Church in Worcester where she sang in the choir for many years.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing dominoes.  Above all she cherished her family.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a funeral service honoring her life at 11 am.
