RUTLAND – Norida Jean (Krill) Boxshus, 86, formerly of Rutland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Lebanon, PA the daughter of Rufus Krill and Anna N. (Reifine) Heffelfinger Krill.
She leaves her loving children, John P. Boxshus, Jr. of Rutland, Mark P. Boxshus of Hull and Nancy A. Stone and her husband, Christopher of Boston; her brother, Glennwood H. Krill and his wife, Doris Soladay Krill of New Cumberland, PA; her best friend, Barbara Randall of Rutland; five precious grandchildren, Tyler and his wife, Olivia of New York City, Brittany of New York City, Cameron, Graylan and Tory of Boston; nephews; and many friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Anne Brubaker; her brother, Marlon Krill; and her half-sister, Harriet Heffelfinger Moyer.
Norida graduated from Womelsdorf High School as valedictorian in 1946, attended Quinsigamond Community College and graduated from Assumption College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance. Prior to raising her family, Norida worked for State Mutual for ten years. In 1978, she returned to work and was employed at Bay State Savings before retiring in 1986 as an assistant treasurer. Norida was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester and the Rutland Senior Center. She was a ferocious reader and read to the blind for many years through WGBH. She enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, crossword puzzles, ocean cruises and summer trips to Cape Cod and Ogunquit, ME. Norida was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Norida’s family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the staffs of Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Jewish Healthcare Hospice and the countless others that touched her life with a tenderness we will never forget. It was greatly appreciated.
Per her wishes, there are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Healthcare Center Hospice, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
