Nathan C. Locke

March 4, 1960 — May 10, 2012

RUTLAND – Nathan C. Locke, 52, of River Road, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Worcester, Nathan was the son of Kenneth F. and June A. (Keddy) Locke and lived all of his life in Rutland.

Nathan attended Worcester Boy’s Trade High School in Worcester and owned and operated his family’s business, Pout and Trout Campground in Rutland, for many years. He was a member of the Mount Zion Lodge of Masons in Barre and served several years on the Rutland Board of Health. He was known for his outgoing, fun-loving and witty personality. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his kindness and how he would “give the shirt off his back” to help others.

He is survived by his mother, June A. (Keddy) Locke of Barre; his wife, Ruth A. Sawin–Locke; a son, Harrison J. Locke of Rutland; two daughters, Leah Locke Palmer of Holland and Erin J. Locke of Pennsylvania; a brother, Michael A. Locke of Gardner; a sister, Diane E. Ketonen of Worcester; two grandchildren, Codey and Alexis Palmer both of Holland; and a nephew, Jason Locke of Maine. Besides his father, Nathan is predeceased by brother, Kenneth Locke.
