WORCESTER – Nason A. Hurowitz, age 88, died on Tuesday morning, October 16, 2018.
He leaves his wife, Martha P. Grace; his sons, Steven Hurowitz and his wife, Susan; Dr. James Hurowitz and his wife, Dr. Doreen Brettler; his daughter, Beth Crotty and her husband, Donald; his grandchildren, Dr. Lauren Brickman and her husband, Dr. Michael Brickman, Elizabeth Dinner and her husband, David, Nora Crotty and Greg Crotty; and three great-grandchildren, Kenna, Graham and Colette. He leaves a brother, Marc Hurowitz and his wife, Nancy and two nieces, Rachel and Shana; a sister, Isa Ritz, predeceased him in 1989. He also leaves Martha’s children, Meredith Reichheld and her husband, Robert, Charles Grace and his partner, Sara Zaiger.
Nason was born in Worcester in 1930 to the late Solomon and Lillian (Aronovitz) Hurowitz.
He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1951 and then went on to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy from which he graduated in 1955. He owned Tech Pharmacy on Highland Street for many years.
An avid lover of classical music, he played the cello and attended as many concerts as possible throughout New England. He was a member of many organizations to which he was very generous. He was an intrepid traveler and he and Martha traveled widely and often.
Those who knew him often mentioned his quick wit but he was also kind, compassionate, learned and respected throughout the community. His many friends came from all walks of life and he enjoyed sparring with them all.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18TH AT BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will follow at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery in Auburn.
Memorial Observance will be held at his residence through Thursday evening, October 18th, 2PM to 4PM Friday October 19th, 6:30PM to 8 PM on Saturday, October 20th, and 2 PM to 5 PM and 6:30 PM to 8 PM on Sunday, October 21, Monday, October 22 and Tuesday, October 23.
With the exception of the Sabbath, Minyan services will be held at 7:00 PM at the residence
