Nancy E. (Johnson) Raphael

WEST BOYLSTON – Nancy E. (Johnson) Raphael, 78, beloved wife of David P. Raphael, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, January 3, 2022. Born in Providence, RI and raised in Leicester, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Ruth (McKenney) Johnson.
After graduating from Leicester High School, she held many positions at several local companies including Paul Revere, Thom McAn and Sprague Electric. On February 28, 1969, she married the love of her life, David Raphael, and together they relocated to West Boylston where they raised their family. Nancy went on to further her career as a baker for the West Boylston School System, a job she truly loved and retired after 24 years of dedicated service. Nancy was an avid reader and enjoyed her daily walks. In their spare time, Nancy and Dave loved to travel and spent many winters on the beaches of Sanibel Island. They took many riverboat cruises over the years with close friends. Among their most memorable adventures was their trip to the Keukenhof Gardens in Holland and Madeira, Portugal.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 53 years, David; her two sons, David P. Raphael, Jr. and his wife, Nicole Carignan of Essex, VT and John K. Raphael and his partner, Tammy Huffman of Belvedere, VT and their children, Jordyn Huffman, Cameron Poe and Kalvien Poe and Nancy’s sister, Diane McNamara of Bonham, TX. She is predeceased by her sister Barbara Csapo of Baltimore, MD.
Nancy’s family would like to thank the staff at Salmon Hospice, including Kelly, Karen, Ann, Kathy, Maureen and especially, Danette for their kind and compassionate care during Nancy’s illness.
A memorial service honoring Nancy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. Nancy will be laid to rest during a private service at Hope Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mustard Seed, c/o Greendale Peoples Church. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
