In Bethlehem, PA, she was a scout leader and active church member at the Moravian Church where she helped the church incorporate hand bells into their worship. In 1980, Nancy returned to Jefferson, Massachusetts with her family and began her own business, Nan’s Doll Corner (repairing and restoring dolls, antique or otherwise) and owned and ran The Paper Station on Main Street in Holden from the mid to late 1980s.

Nan leaves her loving husband of 60 years, E. Alfred Swenson of Holden; her two children, James E. Swenson of Holden and Karen C. (Swenson) Habegger and her husband Timothy M. of Watertown, CT; four grandchildren, Emily A. Barry and her husband Shawn, Jacob T. Habegger, Nathaniel J. Habegger, and Nicholas J.
