Biography
WORCESTER/WEST BOYLSTON – Nancy J. Higgins, 59, formerly of West Boylston, died peacefully at the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester after an illness. Born in Holden, Nancy was the daughter of Alan M. and Roberta E. (Romkey) Higgins, and lived most of her life in West Boylston before moving to the Pleasant Acres Rest Home, Worcester in 2004.
Nancy attended schools in West Boylston and worked many years at the Friendly’s Restaurant also in West Boylston. She attended Salem Covenant Church in Worcester and enjoyed walking, camping, needle work and crafts. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kind and gentle nature.
She is survived and be lovingly missed by her sister, Roberta F. Pierce and her husband Harold of Spencer, a nephew, Jonathan Pierce of Amherst and a niece, Jocelyn Pierce of Spencer.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Nancy’s family from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4, at the Salem Covenant Church, 215 East Mountain Street, Worcester followed by a service celebrating her life at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in High Plain Cemetery, Oakdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Covenant Church, Youth Fund, 215 East Mountain Street, Worcester, MA 01606. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
