Nancy Hadley Degutis

June 14, 1925 — November 4, 2009

HOLDEN – Nancy (Hadley) Degutis, age 84, formerly of Holden, died of cancer on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Worcester.

Mrs. Degutis was born in Woburn, daughter of Harold and Madelyn (Nash) Hadley and was raised and educated in Worcester. She lived in Holden for 31 years before moving to New Hampshire in 1981. She was a member of the Brookline Community Church. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Walter Degutis, in 2005, two sisters, Barbara Watson of Brewster and Joan H. Fanning of Shrewsbury and a brother, David Hadley of Pennsylvania.

Nancy loved Sundays when her children and grandchildren would come to visit. For many years she would cook wonderful meals for twelve or more. She and Walter enjoyed their many travels abroad and in the U.S., especially trips to the Maine coast where they would boil lobsters on the beach. She was always ready to travel someplace new.

She leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Clair Degutis of Princeton and Alan Degutis and Elaine Johnson of Holden; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Michael Creegan of Somersworth, N.H.; five grandchildren and an honorary grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 28th, in the Brookline Community Church. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Brookline Community Church, 2 Main Street, Brookline, N.H. 03033. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
