STERLING – Edith M. (Wiles) Morris, 91, formerly of Meeting House Hill Road, died Friday, January 9, 2009 in the Keystone Center, Leominster, after having suffered from alzheimers.
Her husband of 62 years, Charles E. Morris, Sr., died in 2001. She leaves her son, Charles E. Morris, Jr. of Sterling; a daughter, Nancy M. Fisher and her husband Irving of Frederick, PA; three brothers, Harry, Clyde and Irving Wiles all of Nova Scotia, Canada; a sister, Frances (Dot) Wright of Canada; nephews and nieces and her beloved cat, "Mike". She was born in Greenland, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of Silas L. and Sarah (Buckler) Wiles, and lived in Sterling for over 70 years. She was a graduate of Bear River Academy in Canada.
Mrs. Morris worked for the U.S. Postal Service at Sterling Junction for many years. During World War II, she was a parachute inspector. She was a member of the First Church in Sterling and its Ladies Auxillary Church group. She was a member of the Eastern Star, brownie and cub scouts' leader, and a waitress. She enjoyed traveling to Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Hawaii, Europe and Nova Scotia. She was a loving mother and sister.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 12th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral for Mrs. Morris will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13th, in the First Church in Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Road, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the First Church in Sterling, P.O. Box 40 or the Town of Sterling Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, both in Sterling, MA 01564.
