Biography

PAXTON/WORCESTER – Muriel C. (Logan) Fleming, 87, formerly of Worcester, passed away at home on Monday, February 20, 2017 after an illness. Born and raised in Worcester, Muriel was a daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude (Sanders) Logan and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Paxton in 2012 to live with her daughter. She was one of ten children and a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester. Muriel, along with her husband David, made their home and raised their five children in the Webster Square section of Worcester where they enjoyed the following 44 years together. She worked 29 years for the Catholic Charities as a supervisor for the Homemaker/Home Health Aide Program.  She enjoyed helping others with her compassionate care and nurturing nature. She was more than adored and considered the matriarch of her family. Her immeasurable devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren was forever present through her loving guidance, patience, and understanding. Muriel looked forward to shopping with her sisters, camping at Cape Cod, spending time in Wells, Maine and vacationing at the family condo in the White Mountains.  She enjoyed crafts, spending time with her friends, and was a dedicated Patriots and Red Sox fan. Muriel’s family would like to acknowledge and thank Hanifa Nantaba and the other aides for their years of long-time caregiving and friendship.  Her beloved husband, David M. Fleming, Sr. died in 2001. She will be affectionately remembered and missed by her two sons, Paul R. Fleming of Southbridge and David M. Fleming, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Spencer; three daughters, Jody L. Peltier and her husband, Michael of Oxford, Tammy L. Fleming Maus and her husband, Russell of Leicester and Bonnie L. Farrell of Paxton with whom she lived; three sisters, Shirley Landry of West Lake Village, California, Beverly Pope of Fairhaven and Doris Leard of Springfield; along with her close friend “sister” Ginny Hebert; ten grandchildren, Simone, Paul, Jr., Jessica, Christopher, Jeffrey, Jason, Chad, Jr., Kayla, William and Emily; nine great grandchildren, Alex, Seamus, Jadrienne, Adyson, Ryan, Kylie, Issac, Destiny and Dylan; and many loved nephews and nieces. Muriel is predeceased by one sister, Lillia Chabot and five brothers, Floyd, Jack, Russell, Arthur and Robert Logan. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Muriel’s family from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 24, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
