HOLDEN � Thomas M. Shelley, 86, of Quinapoxet Street, Jefferson, died peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2011 in the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lauretta H. (Boudrias) Shelley. He also leaves two sons, Paul T. Shelley of Lexington and Richard C. Shelley of Newton; a sister, Sister Thomas Marie; two grandchildren, Christopher of New Hampshire and Jeffrey of Kansas; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a close family friend, Macy Wagoner. He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis Harrigan and Victor, and a sister, Mary.

Mr. Shelley was born in East Boston, the son of Thomas M. and Stella (MacDonald) Shelley. He graduated from the Miramar High School in Duxbury and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Shelley worked at the Prudential Life Insurance Co. for twenty years, retiring as a Facilities Manager. During his retirement Mr. Shelley worked as a Leasing Manager for State Mutual Insurance Co., now Hanover Insurance Co. Mr. Shelley was deeply devoted to his family and work. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family of Thomas Shelley wishes to cordially invite relatives and friends to join them in a gathering to celebrate Tom's life from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Val's Restaurant, 75 Reservoir St., Holden. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472; or the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Residents Activity Fund, 32 Mayo Drive, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
