WORCESTER – Theresa M. (Richard) Furman, 74, of Florida Avenue, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 in UMass Memorial Hospital, University Campus, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 47 years, Peter J. Furman; two sons, Michael J. Furman of Worcester and David P. Furman and his wife Shelley of North Brookfield; and two grandchildren, Megan and Matthew. A brother, Eric Richard predeceased her. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Joseph and Nadia (Richard) Richard and graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester.
Theresa worked at the Worcester Social Security Office for 30 years. Previously, she worked for the Veterans Administration at Rutland Heights Hospital. She was a member of St. George's Church. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and was an amazing cook. She was an avid sports fan especially for Assumption College basketball.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Theresa will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, December 30th, with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George's Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
