Biography
WORCESTER – Morris Fine, age 97, of Wilmette, Illinois, died on Thursday, October 1st, 2015.
His wife of 54 years, Mildred Eleanor (Glazer) Fine died in 2004. He leaves two daughters, Susan Elaine Fine of Gurnee, Illinois and Amy, wife of Andrew Tiedemann of Melrose, MA; two sisters-in-law, Dr. Sonia Glazer of Worcester and Norma Markson of Brookline, MA; two granddaughters, Lauren and Jennifer Tiedemann; and a nephew, Larry Fine of Wellington, FL.
He was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of Louis and Sophie Fine, and had lived in Wilmette, Illinois for many years.
He received all of his educational degrees at the University of Minnesota.
During World War II, he was a scientist working on the Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb.
He was a Professor Emeritus in materials science and engineering at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:30 PM ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI AT 661 SALISBURY STREET UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.
