PAXTON – Leonard Monroe Cross, 83, formerly of Paxton, passed away peacefully in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Friday, December 19, 2008 after a long illness.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris C. (Johnson) Cross; three children, Pamela Mortell of Paxton, Cheryl Cosky of Colorado Springs, and Jeffery M. Cross of Charlestown; a sister, Mae Harvey of Ft. Myers, FL; a brother, Casey "Kendall" Cross of Jefferson; 5 grandchildren and a great grandson; a nephew and a niece; and many cousins. He was born in Worcester, the son of Harry and Gladys (Nichols) Cross, was raised in Holden and lived in Rutland, Oakham and Paxton before moving to Colorado in 2004.
Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was stationed in the Hawaiian, Marshall and Palau Islands. In 1950, he joined the Air Force and proudly served during the Korean conflict returning to civilian life in 1954. He was employed as an electrician for Cincinnati Milacron of Worcester for 25 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland. He loved music, camping, golf and animals.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 28th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Leonard will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 29th in the funeral home, with burial following in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
