Mona E. Storm, 92, of Rutland, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024. She is the loving wife of the late Lawrence P. Storm, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.
Mona was born in Washburn, Maine the daughter of Benjamin and Elsie Smith on August 27, 1932. After she married the love of her life, Lawrence, together they settled in Rutland where they lived for the next 6 decades and grew a family.
Mona worked as a housekeeper for many years and eventually transitioned to working at Holden Nursing Home in their kitchen. She was a part of the Eastern Star organization where she met many of her lifelong friends. One of her favorite pastimes was making ceramics with her neighborhood friends. She was known for her delicious Swedish Coffee Cakes, a recipe which she passed down to her granddaughter, and knitting sweaters and scarves for her children and grandchildren. Also an avid collector of special tea cups and angels, Mona would often travel to Canada with her sisters to find the newest additions to their collections. Her legacy of knitting, baking, art, and collecting will live on and be cherished by her family for years to come.
Mona leaves behind her children, Lawrence P. Storm, Jr. and his wife Patti of Ocala, FL, Diane Gamache and her husband Ken of Raymond, ME, and Linda Storm of Brunswick, ME; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher, and Kelly; and her sisters, Evelyn Goding, Joyce Flewelling, and Kay Marzel. She will be met in Heaven by her husband Lawrence P. Storm, her parents Benjamin and Elsie, and her son-in-law Jack Jewel.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 25th from 5-7pm at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street in Holden. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 26th at 10:00am in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street, Rutland. There will be a brief collation from 11-12pm in the church before interment at Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon at 1:00pm. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend all services.
