RUTLAND – Julia M. (Kubaska) Liimatainen, 89, of Rutland, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in Holden Nursing Home, after an illness.
Her husband, Ilmari "Al" Liimatainen, died in 1973. She leaves her son, Gary J. Liimatainen and his wife Susan J. of Rutland; a sister, Helen Zawaski of Stoughton; four grandchildren, Derek D. Liimatainen and his wife Cory, Gregory J. Liimatainen and his wife Klondie, Scott M. and Steven A. Liimatainen, all of Rutland; a great-grandson, Jacob; several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Stephen, Sylvester and Thaddeus Kubaska, predeceased her. She was born in Gilbertville, daughter of Michael and Maria (Szafranska) Kubaska, and lived in Rutland since 1945. She was a graduate of Hardwick High School.
Mrs. Liimatainen was a Nurse's Aide at Rutland Heights Hospital for many years. After retirement, she was a Personal Care Attendant in the Worcester area. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Women's Guild and the Finnish American Tuesday Night Women's Club. She enjoyed cooking, bingo, traveling and touring with her husband on their motorcycle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Mrs. Liimatainen will be held on Monday, March 17th, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church, P.O.
