PAXTON – Donald M. Krus, of Dunanderry Way, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 8, 2009, his 85th birthday.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Lorett (Bevilacqua) Krus; a son, Scott D. Krus of Worcester; a daughter, Claire M. McGibbon of Worcester; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey, son of Max and Elizabeth (Gilg) Krus, Jr., and has lived over 45 years in Paxton. He attended Drew University in Madison, NJ, and received his Master's Degree and Ph.D. from Clark University.

Dr. Krus was an Army Air Force Veteran of World War II serving as a waist gunner on a B-17, 135th AAF Base Unit, in the European Theatre. He was shot down over Europe and was a P.O.W. in Switzerland before escaping to London.

For many years he was a Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Boston, retiring in 1989. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Psychology at Clark University. During his tenure at Clark, he received numerous grants for research in psychopharmacology. His hobbies included, building model airplanes, wine making, gourmet cooking, finish carpentry, and gardening. He had many talents and was greatly beloved by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. An additional calling hour will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13th, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish Home Hospice, 631 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609; or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
