WEST BOYLSTON - Mildred Jean (Richinick) Alexandrowicz, 94, died peacefully at home on Monday, June 26, 2017 under the care of her loving family. She was born Emila Richinick in Worcester, the daughter of Fedora (Slizewska) and John Richinick. Her name was later changed to Mildred.
Mildred is survived by her loving daughter, Paula Jean Alexandrowicz, with whom she lived; her son, Richard John Alexandrowicz and his son, James Paul Alexandrowicz, all of West Boylston as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William J., Paul F. and John J. Richinick; and her sisters, Elizabeth Wheeler, Helen Wozny, Stella Williams and Anna Mespelli.
Mildred grew up in the Grafton Hill section of Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School. She went on to work for Reed and Prince Manufacturing in Worcester. She married the love of her life, Chester R. Alexandrowicz, on March 6, 1943 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester, with whom she shared over 66 years of marriage before he passed away in 2010. The young couple moved to Chicago for a period before returning to Worcester, then settling in their home in West Boylston.
Mildred's life was centered around faith, family and community. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, was a member of the Women's Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She worked at the West Boylston Municipal Pool and was the Cafeteria Manager at West Boylston High School for over 15 years, retiring in 1974. Mildred was dedicated to her family and especially loved gatherings during the holidays and preparing authentic Polish food. She loved sitting in her favorite rocking chair while watching the birds in her yard. Mildred will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, June 30th at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1st at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, 140 Worcester St., West Boylston.
