HOLDEN – Mildred C. (Nilson) Johnson, 93, a 54-year resident of Holden, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.
Her husband, Harold G. Johnson, died in 1978. She leaves her daughter, Beverly C. Morrilly and her husband John of West Boylston; a son, Kenneth G. Johnson and his wife Barbara of Palm City, Florida; five grandchildren, Lynn McQuoid, Lisa McGovern, Bruce Johnson, Paul Johnson and Susan Michael; and two great-grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Carl G. and Annie (Erikson) Nilson, and was a graduate of Commerce High School.
Mrs. Johnson worked at the Lutheran Nursing Home for many years as a Nurse’s Aide. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and previously she was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester. She was also a member of the VASA Order of America Nordic Lodge #611 and the Chaffin’s Women’s Club.
The funeral service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01603.
