Biography
WORCESTER - Micia “Mitch” Gartsu, 85, of Worcester passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 6, 2015. His wife, Kathryn (Ventresca) Guglielmello died in 1981. Born in Woonsocket, RI a son of George and Sophia (Dima) Gartsu, he graduated from the former Commerce High School and worked for many years as a sales manager for two Lawless Automobile Dealerships. He leaves a son, Gary S. Guglielmello and his wife, Karen of Paxton; 2 daughters, Michelle L. Shea of Holden and Stephanie A. Venizelos and her husband, Steven of Watertown; a sister, Juliette Doku and her husband, Spiro of Phoenix, AZ; 3 grandsons, Eric S. and Kevin M. Guglielmello, and Gregory S. Venizelos; a granddaughter, Melissa K. Guglielmello; a nephew, Joseph Doku. Two brothers, Vasil “Billy” and Michael Thomas " Mickey" Gartsu predeceased him. Mr. Gartsu loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and loved the New England Patriots. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Family and friends are invited to join with Mitch’s family from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Very Rev. Fr. Nicholas K. Apostola officiating. Entombment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. The family requests flowers be omitted and contributions in Mitch’s name be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury, 01545. Arrangements are under the direction of Philip G.
