RUTLAND – Michael Williams, 64, of Rutland, died in Florida on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born in Worcester, the son of Mary Jean Dolan and lived all of his life in Rutland.
He leaves his wife of 23 years, Sandra N. (Blum) Williams, two daughters, Shelley L. Eckert of Hubbardston and Jodi A. Eckert of Holden; a son, Joseph S. Eckert of Leominster; two brothers, Daniel Davis of Worcester and Ralph Atchue of West Boylston; a sister, Marjorie Clark of West Boylston; three grandchildren, Zachary, Elizabeth and Ian; several nephews and nieces.
After graduating Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Holden for 20 years retiring in 2006.
Mike was an avid golfer and was a member of Bedrock Golf Course in Rutland. He enjoyed vacationing with his family at Ormond Beach, Florida.
A memorial gathering honoring Mike’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
