HOLDEN – Michael T. Jilek "Grampy", 57, of Main Street, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 24, 2011 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Diane M. (Larkham) Jilek; a step-daughter, Charlene M. Conrad and her husband Thomas, and their children, Kayleigh, Thomas, Jr. and Joseph, all of Holden; four brothers, Timothy Jilek of Gray, ME, Roy Jilek of Carrolton, TX, Donald Jilek of Phoenix, AZ and Joseph Jilek of Madison, WI; two sisters, Theresa Peteie of Wisconsin and Barbara Belmar of CA; and many nephews and nieces. He was born on January 17, 1954 in Barron, Wisconsin, son of Theodore J. and Verla V. (Merrill) Jilek, and lived in Arizona, California and New Jersey before moving to Holden 4 ½ years ago.
Michael was self-employed and owned Jilek Home Improvement Services in Holden. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, helping family and friends with home improvement projects, and attending all of his grand-children's school events and games. More than anything, "Grampy Mike" spent all his free time with his 3 grand-children - Kayleigh, TJ, and Joey - whom he loved beyond words.
His life was an inspiration to all who knew his generosity, kindness and gentle spirit.
A Service of Remembrance and Gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29th at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Memorial donations may be made to the Dawson Elementary School, 155 Salisbury Street, Holden, MA 01520.
