HOLDEN – Michael W. Stan, 55, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus after an illness. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and had lived in Worcester and Leicester, before moving to Holden more than 10 years ago.
He leaves his loving wife of 34 years, Carol A. (Maurizio) Stan; two sons, Phillip M. Stan and his wife, Jennifer of Gardner and Kevin J. Stan of Holden; a daughter, Megan E. Stan of Holden; his parents, Allan W. and Doris J. (Franey) Stan, both of Fairfield, CT; three brothers, Gregory A. Stan of Norwalk, CT, Timothy C. Stan of Newtown, CT and Christopher J. Stan of West Hartford, CT; a sister, Adele M. Stan of Washington, DC; six grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Michael graduated from Roger Ludlow High School in 1977 where he played varsity football, baseball and later attended Marquette and Northeastern Universities. He was an Applications Engineer Manager at MicroChem in Westborough for many years prior to his illness. Previously, he worked for Dow Chemical, formerly Shipley Company in Marlborough. He attended St. George’s Church, traveled the world on business and was a talented guitar player who loved to play for his family and friends. He was a loving and caring person who always put family first and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Michael will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. A private committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Town of Holden Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund, 1370 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
