Biography
HOLDEN - Michael F. Morrissey, 80, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born in Worcester, the son of John J. and Gertrude M. (Cronin) Morrissey.
Mike was raised in Princeton and graduated from Holden High School where he was a three sport varsity player. He later received a degree in accounting from Worcester Junior College and lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Holden in 2009. Mike worked for UPS in Shrewsbury for 32 years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club in Worcester where he made many close friends playing in their golf league. He enjoyed watching New England sports with his family and will be remembered for his integrity, sense of humor, and Irish eyes a smiling.
Mike’s beloved wife of 29 years, Marion M. (Galvin) Morrissey, died in 1994. He leaves his son, Kevin M. Morrissey of Holden; his daughter, Patricia A. Suomala and her husband, Steven of Fitchburg; his brothers, John J. Morrissey of Shrewsbury and Mark E. Morrissey of Paxton; his sister, Roseanne E. Partridge of Sanford, FL; his grandchildren, Cody, Daniel, Konnor and Mary Katherine; as well as his nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Mike is predeceased by a brother, Robert H. Morrissey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mike's family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a remembrance service honoring his life at 4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Visitation House, Inc. 119 Endicott Street, Worcester MA 01610.
