Michael D. Mccuen

RUTLAND - Michael D. McCuen, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Reading, PA, and raised in Ashburnham, MA, he was the son of the late Burton and Mary (Cook) McCuen.
After graduating from Fitchburg High School, Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for four years as an airplane mechanic. Upon his return, he began a long career as a cook. He was employed by Rutland Heights State Hospital in Rutland for many years, up until its closure in 1991. In his spare time, he enjoyed leisurely rides through the old Rutland prison camps, fishing, and of course cooking for his family.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his three daughters, Michelle Ross of Gardner, Megan McCuen of Rutland and Chelsea McCuen of Barre; his brother Peter McCuen and his wife, Lorraine of Sleepy Hollow, NY; his sister, Patricia Boutwell and her husband, Robert of Hickory, NC; a niece, Tracey Kocz and her husband, Michael of Westchester County, NY; a great-niece, Lauren Kocz and a great-nephew, Brandon Kocz. He was predeceased by his niece, Samantha McCuen.
