RUTLAND - Michael Patrick Mahoney (1958-2024) was a dedicated and hard-working man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was born in Bronx, New York and later moved to Massachusetts where he made his home with his family. Michael was known for his compassionate nature, giving spirit, and witty sense of humor. Michael personally brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. His passing will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved him.
Michael was a dedicated long-time employee of the United States Postal Service who formed meaningful bonds with his coworkers and his many customers who looked forward to seeing him daily.
In his leisure time he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music, especially Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Neil Young. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Victoria (nee Janisch), his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Andrew, his adored grandchildren Arianna, Elodie, and Theodore, his siblings Marion, James, Kevin, Alice, Thomas, and William and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Tricia.
Family and friends will gather for Calling Hours from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM.
