HOLDEN – Michael T. Houlihan, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Worcester. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late John and Anne (Nuttal) Houlihan.
Raised in Worcester, Mike graduated from St. Stephens High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in English from Framingham State University. After college, Mike honorably served his country during Vietnam in the United States Navy, working in naval intelligence. After his service, he decided to work in sales and had a successful career as a broker for trucking companies. It was around this time he met the love of his life, Glorene Van Pelt. The two were inseparable.
They lived for 8 years in Georgia before residing in Paxton where they raised their children. When his children were younger, Mike could be found at all their sporting events, cheering them on. In his spare time, he could be found golfing, cooking, or telling jokes to his friends or relatives. He loved being social and the center of attention. Most importantly, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Glorene (Van Pelt) Houlihan; a son, Brandon Houlihan and his wife, Carina of Westborough; a daughter, Corinne Murphy and her husband, Charles of Holden; a sister, Susan Bucchi and her husband, Ronald of Burlington CT; and five grandchildren, Brady, Bryce and Brooke Murphy, and Declan and Hudson Houlihan. Besides his parents, Mike is predeceased by his brother, Jeremiah Houlihan.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mike’s family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 29th, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30th, at Christ the King Parish, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester.
