Michael Sparks Foust

HOLDEN - Michael S. Foust, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of Rev. Roscoe T. and Mary E. (Sparks) Foust and had lived in Northborough before moving to Holden in 2006.

He leaves his loving wife of 32 years, Sharon R. (Latschar) Foust; his children, Suzzana Goodwin of Maui, HI, Laura Murphy and her husband, John of Holden. His stepchildren, Jonathan Hayward and his wife, Kim of Charlotte, NC, and Melanie Hayward of Holden; ten grandchildren, Miranda, Abbey, Christopher, Josh, Jude, Ashley, Jaime, Tyler, Alyson, and Jacob; five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Barbara Ritter of St. Charles, MO, and Cornelia Kaiegh of Naples, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Foust, and his brother, Roscoe T. Foust, Jr.

After graduating from high school, Mike enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1949. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After serving for over twenty years, he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1969. Once out of the service, Mike remained active and was a salesman for Prudential Insurance Company for several years before going to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He worked with the New England Division for many years, before retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Francis Church in Holden and enjoyed his time working on the stained-glass windows of the Church of the Nativity in Northborough. He enjoyed many summers with family and friends at what he referred to as "his favorite view in the world", his vacation home on Pleasant Pond, Carratunk, Maine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Michael will be held on Friday, February 3rd at 11 a.m. St. Francis Church, 70 Highland Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held at a later date in the St. Francis Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation or to the Pleasant Pond Protective Association via their Facebook page PayPal link.
