S Doris M. (Ensom) Butland

PAXTON/WORCESTER – Doris M. (Ensom) Butland, 85, of Brookside Avenue, Worcester, went home to be with the Lord, her Saviour on Sunday, August 3, 2008 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

Her husband of 53 years, Ralph B. Butland, died in 1999. She leaves two sons, James C. Butland, Philip M. Butland and his wife Pat, all of Worcester; a daughter, Beverly S. Carr and her husband Gary of Rochdale; two brothers, Robert Ensom and his wife Shirley of Fresno, California, and William Ensom and his wife Pat of Spencer; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Butland was born in Marlborough, daughter of George and Hazel (Paul) Ensom, and lived in Paxton for 48 years before moving to Worcester eight years ago. She worked as a part-time waitress for many area restaurants. She attended Holden Chapel, participated in Bible study and enjoyed reading and sharing the Bible. She was an avid cook, enjoyed sewing and doing research on her computer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6th, in the Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir Street (Rte. 31), Holden. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir Street, Holden, MA 01520.
